The performance *HÄNDE* was developed as part of the WUK Experimental Workshop. In the form of a laboratory, theater.nuu invited participants to explore hands together. Audience and performers meet in a space where hands speak and tell little stories, build worlds, and topple them again. How do hands say “hello”? What do hands touch? What do they cling to? What do they let go of? And what do they create with a simple lump of clay? Communicating through gestures, building, and destroying are experiences the young audience knows from their daily lives. Two performers and a musician incorporate these themes to create an immersive performance space, inviting the audience to become part of it. This piece was nominated for the STELLA24, the award for outstanding achievements in performing arts for young audiences in Austria.
Performance for Young Audiences:
theater.nuu was founded in 2012 by Sarah Gaderer and Laura-Lee Jacobi (née Röckendorfer). Their work focuses on performances for the youngest audiences. At the heart of their creations is the aesthetic experience – the act of perceiving and feeling beauty. Through their plays, they open spaces for imagination, dreams, and individual interpretations. theater.nuu places great emphasis on collaboration with the audience – during performances as well as throughout the rehearsal and research process. They develop their pieces using improvisation, physical theater, object theater, material theater, and live music. theater.nuu performs in traditional theater settings as well as in alternative spaces like kindergartens and nurseries.
