“I like sunflowers. Sunflowers are my favourite flowers. When I arrived in Germany, I was always tired. Then I got the hot tip that it might be due to a lack of sun and that I should put cut flowers, for example sunflowers, in my room. Because of the psychosomatic effect, you know. You gave me that hot tip, Sunny. The narrative follows the memories of a person who came to the GDR as a guest worker, fell in love with Sunny and stayed in Rostock after reunification.
Lately it’s sometimes really hot, the sun is burning. On days like that I wonder what it would be like to fly to you to the weather station on Sylt. Maybe it’s cooler there, because of the wind.”

In 2025, Akira Schroth won the Fritz Wortelmann Award 2025 with “fly with you”.
“The respectful care with which Akira Schroth shares the fictional memories of a Vietnamese contract worker is also reflected in his handling of the objects. His delicate and focused style of performance creates an atmosphere that allows the audience to quickly develop empathy. […]
The rarely told perspective of East German people with a migration background is conveyed without being didactic. The horror of the real riots in Rostock-Lichtenhagen does not compete with the fictional love story and yet is constantly present. The production is not only a theatrical processing of the situation in the 1990s, but also forges a connection to current social events, is strikingly topical and therefore resonates for a long time.”
