Knitting with heart

We knit together and do good! Come along — with or without knitting needles, with or without yarn.

The knitting club will provide you with materials and know-how, as knitting is known to have positive effects on health. It lowers blood pressure, puts us into a meditative state, and, above all, knitting together reduces loneliness and social isolation.

Eleven years ago, a group of women from Wels founded the initiative “Knitting in public spaces against social coldness.” Today, the creative group calls itself “Knitting with Heart,” as the entire net proceeds from the handmade items are donated to Caritas Wels. This support is used especially during the winter months to provide a wide range of assistance, primarily with electricity and energy cost annual bills, as well as in other cases of hardship.

Community knitting at the Minoriten:

Friday, March 13, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm and from 8:30 pm onwards.
At the Lambe-Lambe evening, you can knit or crochet yourself a free drink with your miniature creation — and do something good at the same time!
