People are discontent; everyone thinks only of themselves, and no one believes in God anymore. This greatly annoys God! He cannot let it stand! So, He appears to the poor fisherman in the form of a flounder and promises to grant him a wish—perhaps this way, He can get back into the game. However, the fisherman's wife develops ever more wishes. Soon, she wants a hut, then a villa, a castle, a kingdom... Now she even wants to become an empress. And then a pope... and finally... God. "Oh God," thinks God. "What now?"

"The Fisherman and His Wife" is a poetic fairy tale loosely based on the Brothers Grimm, about an exaggerated belief in material happiness. Although the fisherman and his wife love each other, with each new wish, they drift further apart. Will they ever find true contentment again?
