The Estonian Academy of Arts (EKA) was founded in 1914 and is the only public university in Estonia offering higher education in the fields of fine arts, design, architecture, media, visual studies, art history, cultural heritage and conservation. Located in the capital Tallinn, it is an active institution for study and research as well as the leading national centre for innovation in visual culture.

Anya Ru is a graphic designer, animation director and mixed-media artist based in Genoa. After graduating in World Art in 2009, she initially worked in London before returning to Italy in 2015, where she has been working freelance ever since. In 2021 she developed her first animated film and, together with a colleague, founded the independent animation collective ALFALUMA, whose short films have been shown internationally. Her artistic practice combines graphic design, animation and handcrafted materials into a distinctive, retro-inspired visual language. In 2024 she was invited to Krems as an artist-in-residence. She then deepened her focus on experimental and analogue animation through the Master’s programme in Animation at the Estonian Academy of Arts (EKA). In 2025 she completed an internship at the renowned Nukufilm animation studio in Tallinn, where she further developed her stop-motion techniques.

Lyza Karoly Jarvis is a mixed-media artist based in Tallinn, Estonia. Among other roles, she works as a project coordinator and film distribution officer at the Department of Animation of the Estonian Academy of Arts (Eesti Kunstiakadeemia), where she organises animation projects and supports the international exchange of animated films.
