Merging movement, figures and music into theater.

In our day and age perfection is the standard, even when it is impossible to obtain. In this society of achievers, we keep up appearances, pretending we can handle everything. We are always 'doing great'. Could it be that daring to express our own insecurity and incompetence will make us stronger?

A young woman in a room. Is she trapped? Is she there out of free will?

Protective visoins are roughly driven away by questions from outside.

Frightfull images are lovingly being calmed. Everyday, seemingly invisible insecurities literally get a face. She will have to stand on her own two feet…the young woman will have to create her own impulse to become aware of the strenght of her weaknesses.

About the Group:

Charlotte Puijk-Joolen studied Fine Arts and Scenography in Utrecht and Maastricht and early on found her artistic home in puppetry, shaped by her long-standing collaboration with the renowned puppeteer Henk Boerwinkel. In 1996 she founded ’t Magisch Theatertje together with her husband Roel Puijk and has since created internationally touring works known for their visual poetry, metaphysical themes and powerful imagery. Her productions have been shown worldwide and have received numerous awards, including at the festival in Charleville-Mézières.

Ananda Puijk, a graduate of De Kleine Academie in Brussels, combines Physical Theatre in the tradition of Jacques Lecoq with the puppetry aesthetics of ’t Magisch Theatertje. Since 2005 she has worked closely with her mother Charlotte, developing a stage language of movement, image and music – without spoken words. Her focus lies on quiet, universal emotions and a poetic, physically driven form of storytelling.
